Concussion Information

Control the use of language – there is no such thing as a ‘ding’ or ‘getting your bell rung,’ and the use of those terms will guarantee the injury is ignored – use the word concussion and it will be taken seriously.

How to Know if You or a Loved One May Have a Concussion
There are many resources out there to help determine when a concussion has occurred.

The American Academy of Neurology offers what I believe to be the simplest definition of concussions –

“Concussion is a trauma-induced alteration in mental status that may or may not involve loss of consciousness.”
http://aan.com/professionals/practice/pdfs/pdf_1995_thru_1998/1997.48.581.pdf

When you are involved in a collision and suddenly your perception of the world changes, you may have suffered a concussion.
